NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO)
The NRA Range Safety Officer course prepares students to organize, supervise, and enforce range safety rules for a variety of shooting activities. Over roughly eight hours of classroom and practical instruction, students learn range planning and inspection, safety equipment and a range’s standard operating procedures, emergency and accident procedures, and how to manage shooters on the line. Graduates earn the NRA Range Safety Officer certification, valid for three years, which many ranges and NRA-affiliated instructors and clubs require of anyone running the line during a class or match.
